Anthony Joshua Set To Defend His Three World Heavyweight Titles Against Kubrat Pulev In December 2020

Anthony Joshua will fight his mandatory IBF challenger Kubrat Pulev in December to defend his three world heavyweight titles, according to boxing promoter Eddie Hearn. The pair were due to face each other at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20 but the coronavirus pandemic forced the clash to be canceled. A new date for the clash has not to been announced yet but it’s likely going down in December with London’s O2 Arena as a possible location. Speaking with ESPN, Hearn said: “We know AJ’s only going to fight once this year, so we want to give ourselves the best opportunity to bring in a crowd, and that would obviously be the later the better.” “But it’s still not a gimme at all. There’s still a very strong chance that AJ will have to fight behind closed doors. “Bearing in mind he’s only going to fight once this year, I just feel as we might as well give ourselves every chance to have a crowd and that will be the first weekend of December. “Their regulations comply with the governme...

George Floyd: ‘I Suffered Racism In 2020’ – Tyson Fury

World heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, has said that he suffered racism in 2020. According to the British boxer, he and his wife, Paris Fury, were turned away from a restaurant in the United Kingdom due to his Traveller heritage. Fury said this while reacting to the racial justice protests taking place around the world following the killing of 46-year-old black American, George Floyd by a US policeman. The 31-year-old told GMB on Wednesday:- “I think it is a terrible thing that’s happened with the guy [George Floyd] who has been choked – unacceptable behaviour from any colour or race of people. “A lot of riots have been going on in America, and I think they are trying to make a point and let people know it is unacceptable. “Blackout should not just be a one-day thing, and you should not just post it then forget about it for the other 364 days in a year. “Because I am a white male and I suffered racism in 2020 as a white person, coming from a Travelling background. “...

Tyson Fury’s coach Andy Lee backs him to beat Anthony Joshua

Tyson Fury is mentally stronger than Anthony Joshua and would overcome his British rival in similarly commanding fashion to how he defeated Deontay Wilder, according to the WBC heavyweight champion’s coach Andy Lee. Fury got his hands on one of the four major world belts again when he ended Wilder’s long reign as champion, knocking the previously-unbeaten American down twice en route to a seventh-round stoppage in February. While he is contractually obliged to face Wilder for a third time and Joshua is scheduled to take on Kubrat Pulev next, the outbreak of coronavirus and subsequent suspension of major boxing shows has clouded the issue. Speculation is rife a domestic dust-up could take priority but Lee can only see one outcome in a fight which would determine the undisputed world heavyweight champion. “I think (Joshua) is still an improving fighter,” Lee told The Boxing Show on Sky Sports. “A little bit of inexperience and mentally he’s not as strong as Tyson....

Anthony Joshua Reveals The Boxer That Could Have Beaten Him Hands Down

Anthony Joshua, the world boxing champion, has admitted that there was no way he could have beaten Mike Tyson, when the American was in his prime. Joshua reclaimed his WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO belts from Andy Ruiz in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, almost six months after he lost it at Madison Square Garden. His defeat to Ruiz, was his first during his professional career. But the Briton feels he would lost to Tyson if he was still fighting. “Mike Tyson would have battered me! “There was no way I could have taken on that guy. I would have taken that pay cheque. You know what I did against Klitschko in that 6th round when I took that dive? I’m joking. I'm successful, isn't that good enough? - Joshua rejects Wilder criticism of Ruiz performance

Deontay Wilder was extremely critical of Anthony Joshua after he won his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr, but the Briton dismissed his comments. Anthony Joshua dismissed Deontay Wilder's criticism of his performance in the rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr, insisting him regaining three of the major heavyweight titles was all that mattered. Joshua, having been stunned by Ruiz in his sole professional defeat at Madison Square Garden in June, cruised to a unanimous decision victory in their second meeting in Saudi Arabia on Saturday to win back the WBA, IBF and WBO belts. The Briton controlled the fight superbly with the jab, taking full advantage of his extra reach and refusing to get into the frantic exchanges that were won so decisively by Ruiz in their first match in New York. While the scorecards reflected a dominant Joshua performance, Wilder - the WBC champion - slammed his "dance and grab and jab and hold" approach. "Fans come to see knockouts...

Ramos: Let's have two Ballon d'Or awards - one for Messi and Ronaldo and one for everyone else

Sergio Ramos has joked there should be one Ballon d'Or award for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo - and an alternative trophy for the rest of the world's footballers to fight over. Real Madrid captain Ramos has a stack of individual accolades alongside the host of trophies he has won in his Santiago Bernabeu career. But like so many great players of the last 12 years, he has been put in the shade by Messi and Ronaldo when it comes to the biggest awards. From 2008, when Ronaldo first landed the Ballon d'Or, through to Messi scooping the honour earlier this month, the pair have had a near total duopoly, interrupted only in 2018 by Luka Modric's success. Ronaldo has taken the prize five times and Messi six, prompting Ramos to jest that the pair should be left alone to slug it out for one trophy, while giving everyone else a chance of taking another. "They could make a Ballon d'Or only for Cristiano and Messi depending on results...and...

Pepe Showed His Quality In Arsenal’s Win Over West Ham- Ljungberg

Freddie Ljungberg always knew it would take Nicolas Pepe time to find his feet in the Premier League – so he was thrilled to see the Arsenal forward turn on the style. Signed in August from Lille for an Arsenal club record fee of £72 million ($95m), the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international has struggled to make the transition to the English top flight. However, a sparkling goal and an assist from Pepe against West Ham on Monday helped interim boss Ljungberg guide Arsenal to a 3-1 win at London Stadium. Pepe’s all-round performance impressed Ljungberg, with the former Gunners midfielder acknowledging the price tag for Pepe means there is an expectation that he should consistently deliver. “People always ask me about Nico and I try to explain,” Ljungberg said. “He comes from the French league to the Premier League, in my opinion, the best league in the world, it’s a lot faster and a lot harder. “He needs to adapt and people put pressure on him and it’s not ea...

Anthony Joshua Explains The Role Of Islam In His Life After Beating Andy Ruiz

Anthony Joshua has admitted that Islam has played a big role in his boxing career after beating Mexican-American opponent Andy Ruiz in Saudi Arabia. Anthony Joshua reclaimed his belts after his victory over Andy Ruiz even though he had to win the fight via unanimous decision. In June this year, Anthony Joshua was shocked in New York as he lost for the very first time in his career against Andy Ruiz. The defeat propelled him for a rematch against Andy Ruiz which he won on Saturday night, December 7. And after his victory over Andy Ruiz, a reporter went to Anthony Joshua to ask him how he feels winning back his titles in a Muslim nation. The reporter reminded Anthony Joshua on how Muhammad Alli proclaimed his faith in Saudi Arabia after winning world tittle. He then asked Anthony Joshua to speak on the role Islam has played in his life. ”A big role Islam has played in my life because my uncles went to Mecca and pray for me and if a Muslim comes to me a...

Gabriel Martinelli impresses for Arsenal in win over West Ham

Gabriel Martinelli's full Premier League debut offers hope for the future amid the uncertainty at Arsenal. Nicolas Pepe scored Arsenal's second goal. The hope is that he can kick on from there. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang provided the assist for that one and scored the third himself. As for Mesut Ozil, he set up both of those goals with driving runs from deep. But for all the big names, the big signings and the even bigger salaries among this Arsenal team, it was the performance of teenager Gabriel Martinelli that stood out. He also showed a lot of the qualities that have been missing during the club's dismal run of form. Martinelli's equaliser, on his full Premier League debut, turned the game around. Arsenal had been dreadful up until that point, weighed down by the pressure that has been building throughout a run of nine games without a win - the club's worst in 42 years. The 18-year-old Brazilian was the exception. It wasn't just the fi...
