Mudashiru Obasa, speaker of the Lagos house of assembly, says the allegations of corruption levelled against him are untrue. The speaker said this when he appeared before a nine-man fact-finding panel, chaired by Victor Akande, representative of Ojo constituency I. set up to probe the allegations. Earlier, online news platform, SaharaReporters had published a thorough investigation on Obasa who allegedly own more than 60 bank accounts. It was alleged that the speaker was using his office to misappropriate funds and allocate contracts to himself through third party sources, as well as other acquaintances. Obasa claimed that all spendings were approved by the house as well as the fund management committee (FMU). Unknown persons have allegedly broken into the office of the Secretary to the Government of Katsina State (SGS), Mustapha Inuwa, and made away with huge amounts of money. The office which is located at the state secretariat was said to have been broken into on Sunday night. Sources familiar with what happened said the amount stolen was in the millions of Naira. One of the sources said the amount stolen was up to N16 million. He also said some people arrested on Monday in connection with the incident. Those arrested included a security guard, and two government officials working at the SSG’s office. The incident comes same time the office of the Secretary to the State Government is handling disbursement of allowance arrears to hundreds of S-Power beneficiaries teaching at various state-owned secondary and primary schools. A Federal High Court in Lagos, on Tuesday adjourned the trial of a former Minister of State for Finance, Nenandi Usman and others, until Dec. 2nd. NAN reports that Usman is standing trial alongside a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, Yusuf Danjuma, a former Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), and a Company, Jointrust Dimension Ltd over alleged N4.6 billion Money laundering charges. The defendants were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on 17-counts. They had each pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail respectively. EFCC has since opened the case for the prosecution and is still leading witnesses in evidence. Meanwhile, the trial of the defendants which was earlier scheduled for continuation on Tuesday has now been moved to Dec. 2. TheGuardian reports that Nigerian singers, Danny Young and Tiwa Savage have settled their legal battle out of court. It was reported earlier that Danny Young filed a N200 million copyright suit against Savage for her 2018 song, ‘One’, which he claimed she copied from his 2009 single, “Oju Tiwon”. In the suit, he sought a declaration that by copying, performing, and distributing literary work and music lyrics authored and owned by him without lawful authority, the defendants have infringed on his copyright. He also sought an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants, whether by themselves or their agents, from further copying, performing, recording, reproducing, or communicating to the public, his musical composition. The minister for youth and sports development, Sunday Dare, has stated that foremost Nigerian businessman, Aliko Dangote, is set to renovate the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja. He made this known while fielding questions from journalists on Thursday, 7th November. His words:- “Yes, Abuja is coming back up,” he said. “Already we have gotten Dangote, I can say that he has agreed to bring back the Abuja football pitch, the light and scoreboard. “Work will start in another one week or two weeks. “And we will use the same model, we will adopt the pitch model for several of our stadia. At least, the three other big ones. “We are looking at between now and March we should have four big stadia, foot scoreboard, FIFA scoreboard “And I think given time, within a year this country should be ready to host virtually any FIFA soccer tournaments.
