Italian club Considering Move For Arsenal Out-Of-Favour Midfielder

Serie A outfits, Torino are reportedly planning to make a January move for Arsenal anchorman Lucas Torreira. The 24-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements at the North London club over the summer and subsequently made a switch to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid on short term loan deal. The Uruguay international has already played seven games for Diego Simeone’s side, including three in the Champions League against Bayern Munich, Lokomotiv Moscow and Red Bull Salzburg. Atletico do not have a future purchase agreement with the Mikel Arteta’s side, though, and according to Marca, Torino are planning to make a winter move for the South American and sign him on permanent basis. The report suggests that a lack of regular starts for Los Rojiblancos between now and January could lead him to make a return to Italy on a permanent basis. Torreira’s current contract with Mikel Arteta’s side is due to expire in the summer of 2023. Arsenal have already signed replacement for Torreira after they

Folarin Balogun Speaks Out On First Arsenal Goal As Mikel Arteta Readies New Contract

Folarin Balogun says he was "really happy" to score his first Arsenal goal and urged manager Mikel Arteta to keep "showing faith" in him. Balogun, 19, came off the bench in the 82nd minute of the Europa League clash and took just one minute to open his Gunners account in his second senior appearance. The England U20 forward received a square pass from Emile Smith Rowe, turned in the box and finished instinctively to cap a professional Arsenal display. Balogun's bright cameo and late goal were the latest reminder of his phenomenal potential. He is out of contract at the end of the season and Arteta is keen to tie him down to a new deal. In the meantime, Balogun called on his gaffer to keep handing him minutes with the first team to continue his development. "I’m feeling really happy, it shows that all the hard work I’ve put in over the years is just starting to pay off," Balogun told Arsenal's official website. "It’s important that I keep worki

TEARS IN MY EYES: ARSENAL FANS REACT TO ‘GREAT NEWS’ THEY’VE HEARD

Arsenal fans are delighted after Mikel Arteta seemed to confirm to Football London that Folarin Balogun will be staying at the Emirates Stadium. Balogun’s future at Arsenal has been heavily speculated about, with his contract expiring at the end of the season. The youngster has found chances hard to come by, but he has been given opportunities in the Europa League and he proved his quality last night. Balogun came off the bench to score his first Arsenal goal in their 3-0 win over Molde. And after the game Arteta said: “Well deserved for the boy. He’s working really hard as well. He had some difficult months as well. We had some speculation around him. He’s handled the situation in a really mature way. He wants to stay, we want him to stay. We gave him the opportunity and he took it straight away.” The comments have pleased Arsenal supporters, who are desperate for Balogun to commit his future. Balogun still hasn’t officially put pen to paper on new terms, but Arteta’s words were the c

Arsenal Urged To Replace Lacazette With Edouard As Campbell Calls For Celtic Raid

The former Gunners frontman believes Mikel Arteta will look to upgrade his striking options in upcoming windows, with French forwards in his thoughts Arsenal should be rekindling their interest in Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard, says Kevin Campbell, with Alexandre Lacazette now “the wrong side of 30” and open to a possible upgrade. Mikel Arteta does have plenty of firepower at his disposal in 2020-21, with France international Lacazette a proven performer at the highest level and having already scored three Premier League goals this season. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is very much the main man for Arsenal in the final third of the field, and the Gabonese has been tied to a lucrative new contract. Eddie Nketiah is then one for the present and future, with England’s all-time leading scorer at U21 level having shown that he can mix it on a senior stage. The Gunners have, however, seen market moves mooted in recent windows. Celtic star Edouard was said to be a top target for Arteta over the

Arsenal's £72m Enigma: Arteta Right To Demand More From Mercurial Pepe

The Gunners' record signing may have scored his third goal of the season on Thursday night but his manager wants consistency across 90 minutes. Mikel Arteta’s answer was clear when asked what Nicolas Pepe needed to show in order to earn himself a regular starting spot in Arsenal's Premier League team. “Consistency,” said the Arsenal boss, when quizzed on the Gunners’ record signing, following Thursday’s night’s 4-1 Europa League win against Molde at the Emirates Stadium. It was a game that perfectly encapsulated the enigma that is Pepe. The £72 million ($95m) man was infuriating at times - especially in the first half - but just as he had done against Dundalk a week earlier, he popped up with an excellent goal. He also went on to add an assist for Joe Willock, a late strike which sealed a comfortable victory for Arteta’s side and all but booked Arsenal’s passage into the knockout stages. It was a classic Pepe performance and more evidence of why he remains such a puzzle in nort
