The Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has cleared the air on the amount approved as Corps Members’ monthly allowance by the Federal Government in line with the new National Minimum Wage. He disclosed this while speaking to Corps Members at the NYSC Bauchi State Secretariat during his working visit to the State. Ibrahim explained that contrary to the various amounts being circulated on social media, the sum of thirty-three thousand nairas had been approved as the new rate. He also said provision had been made for the new allowance in the year 2020 Budget, adding that payment would commence as soon as funds are released by the appropriate authorities. Speaking further, he advised the Corps Members to always be security conscious just as he warned against rumor-mongering and negative usage of Social Media. An early Tuesday morning fire outbreak that occurred in the popular Sabo market in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State has destroyed over 100 shops. The fire reportedly destroyed goods and valuables worth several millions of naira. The Federal Government and Governors of the South West States yesterday reached an agreement that legal framework should be put in place on the establishment of the regional security outfit, Amotekun. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo met with the South West Governors and the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami as well as the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja after the expanded National Economic Council, NEC, meeting. Recall that the AGF had declared the regional security initiative of the South West Governors aimed at curbing security challenges in the zone as illegal. President Muhammadu Buhari recently announced that his administration was coming up with a Community Policing policy to fight the insecurity in the polity.

Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has said that he is not disturbed over whether ‘Operation Amotekun’ may affect his chances of getting a second term in office. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has not received the certified true copy of the Tuesday Supreme Court Judgment on Imo governorship election. The apex court had on Tuesday removed Gov Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and declared the All Progressive Congress, APC’s Hope Uzodinma as the Governor of Imo State. Delivering the judgment, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun said 236,000 votes due to Uzodinma and APC from 318 polling units were wrongly excluded and should be added. Reacting, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja, said that INEC would comply with the judgment once it was served with the enrolled copy of the judgment. The Supreme court, Monday abruptly adjourned all gubernatorial cases before it as one of the seven Justices hearing the appeal in the 2019 Kano state governorship election suddenly fell ill during sitting. But before the sudden resolution to adjourn, counsel for Abbah Yusuf of the Peoples Democratic party, Gboyega Awomolo adopted his brief and urged the court to allow the appeal of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammad to announce that the court will have to abruptly rise. The CJN told the crowded court that due to unforeseen circumstances, the court had to rise. Specifically, the CJN announced that one of the Justices hearing the case has critically fallen sick.
