Arsenal Confirm Runar Alex Runarsson Transfer To Hand Mikel Arteta fourth Summer Signing

Arsenal have completed the signing of Dijon goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson. The Icelandic international has joined the Gunners in a transfer understood to be worth around £1million. He has signed a four year contract with the club and will wear the No.13 shirt. Emiliano Martinez's £20million move to Aston Villa left Arsenal in need of an understudy to Bernd Leno, a role that Runarsson could be asked to fulfill. There is however a possibility that the 25-year-old will find himself as Mikel Arteta's third choice goalkeeper with the Gunners still keen to sign David Raya. However with Brentford insistent that they want to keep Raya and under no financial pressure to sell the goalkeeper, who would like to join Arsenal, it is possible that Runarsson may be the Gunners' back-up option between the posts. Runarsson was secured for a low fee after falling out of favour with Dijon and losing his starting spot to Alfred Gomis. In 14 games last season the 25-year-old conceded 26 goal

Arsenal Target Deletes Social Media Posts Insulting Arsene Wenger

Runar Alex Runarsson has deleted old social media posts criticising Arsene Wenger ahead of a potential move to Arsenal. The Icelandic goalkeeper has reportedly undergone a medical ahead of a switch to the Emirates from Dijon, where he is expected to provide competition for No.1 Bernd Leno, with Emiliano Martinez seemingly set for a £20m move to Aston Villa. However, some Gunners supporters were less than impressed when they discovered old tweets from Runarsson's account abusing their legendary former manager Wenger. The Frenchman won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups during his 22 year spell at the club, but split opinion towards the end of his reign after a number of less successful campaigns. In July 2011 Runarsson tweeted: "Arsene Wenger is a little too stupid!" with the hashtag "French f***". And a month later, by which time Arsenal had sold two of their best players in Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, Runarsson added: "Arsene Wenger is defi

CONFIRMED: AUBAMEYANG SIGNS ARSENAL CONTRACT EXTENSION

Arsenal have confirmed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, club captain and talismanic striker, has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Emirates until July 2023. The new deal, believed to be worth around £300,000 per week, represents a huge win for Mikel Arteta who has repeatedly said that he wants to build his team around the 31-year-old. Since signing from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, Aubameyang has scored 72 goals for the Gunners in 111 appearances, including a match-winning brace in the recent FA Cup final against Chelsea. If he continues in the same vein for the next three seasons, there’s even a decent chance he could move into the club’s top five record goalscorers. For a time it looked as if he was seriously considering a departure, telling Telefoot back in June that he was at a ‘turning point’ in his career, but he obviously feels as if his footballing ambitions can be realised with Mikel Arteta and the Gunners. The announcement played out ‘live’ on both the Ars

MADE IN BRAZIL Arsenal Debutants Gabriel And Willian Steal The Show As Gunners Ease Past Fulham On Premier League Return

Gabriel Magalhaes and Willian both had an Arsenal debut to remember as the Gunners welcomed Fulham to the Premier League with a 3-0 thumping. The two debutants showed why the club went to such lengths to sign them by starring on the opening day of the new season. Not only did Gabriel add instant assurance at the back, the £27million defender also scored his first Gunners goal. Willian created it, along with both of his side’s other goals, which were scored by more familiar marksmen Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Lacazette opened the scoring, becoming the first man to net the first goal in separate Premier League campaigns, after Willian poked the ball against Fulham goalkeeper Marek Rodak. The Brazilian, who joined on a free from Chelsea last month, then whipped in a perfect corner for Gabriel to force home with his shoulder at the start of the second-half. Then Aubameayng, influential as ever throughout, rounded off a fearsome display with a stunning effort curled

Fulham 0 Arsenal 3: New-look Gunners In Statement Win After Goals From Aubameyang, Gabriel And Lacazette

ARSENAL threw down an early gauntlet to the top four contenders as they kicked off the new Premier League season in style. Six weeks after lifting the FA Cup at Wembley, Mikel Arteta’s team were straight back into the groove with an emphatic win at newly-promoted Fulham. It took them just nine minutes of the new campaign to prove they meant business when Alexandre Lacazette fired them ahead. Granit Xhaka’s shot was blocked and Willian’s follow-up was saved by Marek Rodak but the Fulham keeper was powerless to prevent Lacazette from forcing the loose ball home from close range. It was the second time the French striker had scored the opening goal of the Premier League season. He was also quick off the mark in the 4-3 win against Leicester three years ago. And the visitors almost doubled their lead in the 27th minute when Willian’s free-kick struck the base of the post after Lacazette had been fouled on the edge of the penalty area. The veteran Brazilian had been selected ahead of £72m

Fulham Vs Arsenal: Willian Dazzles On Debut As Gunners Start Premier League Season With A Win

Arsenal kicked off the new Premier League season in style.  The Gunners smashed London rivals Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage and new signing Willian was the star of the show.  He provided a hat-trick of assists inside 60 minutes.  The first set-up Alexandre Lacazette's 8th-minute tap-in, while his second was the cross that fellow debutant Gabriel headed in shortly after half-time. Willian's third assist was the pick of the bunch.  The Brazilian curled a beautiful ball into the path of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the striker took three touches before curling a beauty past Marek Rodak. Check out all three of Arsenal's goals below:  What a way to make your debut. Take a bow, Willian. He wasn't the only one that impressed either. Mikel Arteta will be very happy with how his  Arsenal  side performed on Saturday afternoon. They dominated Fulham from start to finish.  This looked like a real statement from the Gunners - they are a team to take seriously this season.  Aubameyan

Arsenal Team-Mates Ceballos And Nketiah In Angry Bust-Up Before Premier League Opener Against Fulham

The Gunners colleagues had a heated exchange during the warm-up at Craven Cottage ahead of the first game of the new season. Eddie Nketiah and Dani Ceballos had to be separated by team-mates following an angry exchange before Arsenal’s Premier League opener at Fulham. The players, who were both named amongst the substitutes at Craven Cottage, were taking part in the pre-match warm-up when the flare-up happened at Craven Cottage. It took place during a short passing drill and the flash point came when Ceballos - who has just returned to Arsenal on a season-long loan from Real Madrid - caught Nketiah with a late challenge as he tried to claim a loose ball. The young Gunners striker clearly said something to his Spanish team-mate, who responded by angrily shoving Nketiah away before shouting at him as he prepared to restart the training drill. Things then appeared to calm down before the pair went at it again after another challenge by Ceballos, which ended with Nketiah kicking the ball a

Arsenal's Starting Line-Up For Fulham 'Spotted' By Fans From Mikel Arteta's Notes In Training

Arsenal supporters have taken to social media after spotting what they believe to be a clue ahead of the Gunners' opening Premier League fixture. Mikel Arteta's side make the short journey across London to Craven Cottage where they will be looking for three points against newly promoted Fulham. The Gunners will be hoping to make a winning start to their campaign, with Arteta no doubt keen to build upon the momentum of winning the FA Cup at the end of last season, and then the Community Shield against Liverpool several weeks ago. The north Londoners have been in pre-season mode for several weeks with warm-up games against MK Dons and Aston Villa to help regain match sharpness. The Villa match at the Emirates ended in a 3-2 defeat, but saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang net a brace to carry on where he left off against Jurgen Klopp's side at Wembley. Summer signings Willian and Dani Ceballos also made appearances, with Ceballos playing less than 24 hours after signing another seas

UNSATISFIED Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Sarcastically Responds To 87-Rated FIFA 21 Card As Arsenal Talisman Receives Same Rating As Last Year

It’s safe to say Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang isn’t very happy about his FIFA 21 rating. The Gunners’ talisman has been handed an 87 rating for the new edition of the game – the same rating he was in FIFA 19. And the Gabon international has sarcastically responded to his card with a laughing face emoji. Aubameyang had another superb season for the Gunners, hitting 22 Premier League goals for Mikel Arteta’s side – the same he managed last year. However, the 31-year-old played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph, netting a brace against Chelsea to seal a first trophy in management for Arteta. Meanwhile, it is understood Aubameyang will ‘imminently’ sign a new three-year contract at the Emirates. It is understood he will become the club’s highest earner on his new deal, surpassing Mesut Ozil’s reported £350,000-a-week wages. The report adds Arteta has been integral in talks to keep the 31-year-old striker in north London. Former Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi is believed to ha

Arsenal’s Offer For 22-Year-Old Star Revealed As Arteta Looks To Land 5th Signing

Arsenal have offered £31.4m plus a player in exchange for Houssem Aouar but the proposal was knocked back by Lyon, according to RMC Sport. Mikel Arteta has strengthened his attack with the arrival of Willian while the defence has been further boosted by the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes after Cedric Soares and Pablo Mari made their loan moves permanent. The Arsenal boss is now focusing his efforts on bringing in a central midfielder as Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira are both being linked with moves away from the Emirates this summer so Arteta needs to sign at least one replacement. Several names have been linked but Aouar emerged as a prime target last week when The Athletic reported that Arsenal were in talks with Lyon over a potential deal to sign the highly-rated 22-year-old. It looks like the north Londoners have now formalised their interest as RMC Sport claims that Arsenal have offered to pay £31.4m and include a player in exchange for Aouar’s signature this summer. 'It's Happening!'- Arsenal Fans Go Nuts After What Thomas Partey's Brother Did On Instagram

Arsenal fans have taken to social media after spotting what they believe to be a clue to Thomas Partey's future. The Gunners are looking to further strengthen their squad in the next few weeks of the  summer transfer window. Mikel Arteta's side have already signed Willian, who joined the club on a free transfer after the expiry of his contract at Chelsea. The Brazilian winger signed a three-year deal at the Emirates Stadium, and was joined by compatriot Gabriel Magalhaes, who sealed a move from Lille. Dani Ceballos also re-joined on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid after impressing towards the end of last season. Despite the arrivals, Arteta is understood to be targeting another dynamic midfielder to beef up the spine of his side. Atletico Madrid midfielder  Thomas Partey has been closely linked, with Arsenal reportedly seeing two bids rejected for the Ghanaian. However, Atletico are insistent that the midfielder will only leave should his £45million release clause be m

Arteta Ready To Block Arsenal Star’s Transfer Away After Impressive Pre-Season

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly ready to make a U-turn on the future of Rob Holding after his impressive form in pre-season training. The 24-year-old has only had a bit-part role at the Emirates Stadium in recent times, with fitness issues delaying his progress after he initially arrived as a bright prospect for the future. Arsenal had been in talks about letting Holding leave for Newcastle, but it seems Arteta is now ready to pull the plug on that move after being wowed by Holding’s improvement, according to the Daily Mail. Gunners fans will be pleased to see Holding doing well, while it’s also encouraging that Arteta is prepared to give his stars a second chance if they deserve it. This has seemingly been the case with Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who started off out of favour under the Spanish tactician before becoming a key figure in the club’s FA Cup and Community Shield victories. If Holding can continue to impress, it could be of huge benefit to Arsenal if it means the lik

Mikel Arteta And Edu Given Instruction Over How To Solve Mesut Ozil Problem At Arsenal

Arsenal must 'meet halfway' and resolve their stand-off with Mesut Ozil. That's according to former defender Sol Campbell, who doesn't see any benefit from the current situation Ozil made just 18 league appearances last season, struggling with injury at the back-end of the campaign and coming under intense criticism across the season. But there's no use in freezing the German out, even with one year remaining on his well-known lucrative contract, according to Campbell. Obviously, internally there is something going on," he told talkSPORT. "It’s all there for everyone to see. I think it’s going to come down to how they approach it and the conversations they have in private. "How Ozil trains and things like that. It’s really going to come down to that. They need to come together somehow but if there’s a standoff then nothing is going to happen. “Someone’s got to give and to give in is not always to lose. You don’t always have to give in and it means yo

First Pictures Of Willian Training As Arsenal Player As Nicolas Pepe Joins New Signing

Willian trained as an Arsenal player for the first time on Friday as preparations towards the new Premier League campaign stepped up at London Colney. The Brazilian was seen training alongside David Luiz and fellow winger Nicolas Pepe at the St Alban's training base. Willian was Arsenal first summer signing, and this week followed it up with Gabriel from Lille. Manager Mikel Arteta has lured the Brazilian across London from Chelsea on a free transfer, after Willian's Chelsea contract expired. Arsenal's reduced pre-season plans meant they only entertained MK Dons before beating Liverpool in the Community Shield last weekened. Fulham are their first opponents of the new domestic season, with the Gunners travelling to Craven Cottage for the first game of the entire campaign.

Deal Agreed: Arsenal Will Bank An Overall €24m As Midfielder Edges Close To Serie A Loan

It always looked like Arsenal would need to get rid of players to raise funds to make further additions to the squad, so getting a decent fee for Lucas Torreira could be a great piece of business. He did look like a great signing when he joined the club but he didn’t manage to nail down a regular spot in the team, so a return to Serie A where he’s shone in the past would make sense for everyone. Italian outlet Labaroviola have indicated that the deal to take the Uruguayan to Fiorentina has now been agreed, and it will be a loan deal with the obligation to buy. It’s suggested that Arsenal will get an upfront payment of €8m before Fiorentina pay a further €16m next summer to make it permanent,  but because it’s an obligation to buy then they won’t have any way of reversing the deal once it happens. They go on to say that he will become the second highest earner at the club with only Franck Ribery earning more, so it does show how much they want him. It sounds like they need Arsenal to si

Matteo Guendouzi's Arsenal Saga Takes Twist As PSG Make Transfer Decision

PSG have snubbed the chance to sign Arsenal's Matteo Guendouzi who looks set for the exit door. The Gunners midfielder has not been able to win over Mikel Arteta and will be moved on if the club can find a suitor. Guendouzi grabbed Brighton's Neal Maupay by the throat in Arsenal's 2-1 defeat on the south coast in June which was not well received. Arteta has already begun shaping his squad at the Emirates with the signing of Gabriel from Lille confirmed. But the Spaniard is also targeting a central midfielder which appears to spell the end for Guendouzi, who has not played since the incident on the south coast. Thomas Partey is their No 1 target but Atletico Madrid want his £45m release clause paid in full which may prove an issue for Arsenal. Guendouzi has been linked with Valencia and a return to France with PSG, but the Telegraph understands the Parisians have turned down the opportunity to add the Frenchman. He started his Gunners career brightly after being signed by Un

Arsenal Morning Headlines As Thomas Partey 'Wants' Move And Matteo Guendouzi Interest Expressed

The Atletico Madrid midfielder’s name continues to dominate the gossip columns when it comes to Arsenal, who have prioritised adding Brazilian duo Willian and Gabriel Magalhães so far. The latest on Thomas Partey, from Goal (via Sports Mole), is that the player himself is keen on leaving the Spanish capital for Arsenal this summer. However, Arsenal need to balance the books and may need to sell in order to bring in any more players. It had previously been reported that Ainsley Maitland-Niles was close to an Emirates exit, but the academy graduate now looks set to stay as Mikel Arteta’s first-choice right wing-back, while Hector Bellerin has received interest from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain. Everything you need to know about Arsenal’s friendly against QPR Arsenal have started their 2020/21 preparations on a positive note, beating Liverpool on penalties in the Community Shield at Wembley to claim their second piece of silverware under Arteta. Their pre-season plans continued w

Atletico Madrid Star Partey Keen To Join Arteta's Arsenal Revolution

The Gunners want to bring in the Ghana international but are currently unable to activate his £44.5 million release clause. Thomas Partey is keen on a move to Arsenal but the Gunners' hopes of landing the midfielder this window will rest on the club’s ability to move players on over the coming weeks. The Ghana international has long been the north London club's priority capture this summer, but talks with Atletico Madrid have so far proved unsuccessful. Madrid do not want to lose Partey and still hope to convince him to sign a new contract. His current deal runs until 2023 and there had been talks over extending his stay. The financial implications brought on by the coronavirus pandemic have meant, however, that Atletico have not been able to offer him the size of deal they had initially planned. They have instead given the player assurances that he will be given a substantial increase once the club is on a more secure financial footing in a year’s time. Arsenal remain extremel

CONFIRMED: GABRIEL MAGALHÃES SIGNS FOR ARSENAL

Arsenal have completed the signing of Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhães from Lille in a deal that could cost up to €30 million. The 22-year-old passed a medical in London over a week ago and is currently in quarantine having arrived from France. It’s understood he’s signed a five-year deal with the Gunners. The deal was announced in a video on Facebook in which Willian and David Luiz interviewed the new boy over Zoom. Gabriel joined Lille for £1.5 million in 2017 from homeland side Avai and twice went out on loan the following season to Troyes and Dinamo Zagreb. The 6’2″ left-sided centre-back had to be patient on his return to the Stade Pierre Mauroy but eventually broke into the team midway through the 2018/19 season. Spearheaded by Nicolas Pepe, Lille went onto finish second behind Paris Saint-Germain. Several clubs across Europe have been tracking Gabriel’s development and there was serious competition for his signature from Napoli, Manchester United and Everton. His agent claim
