Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is lining up a swoop for the Porto midfielder this summer.
Portuguese news outlet O Jogo claim that Pereira will be available to depart. Porto haven’t yet received an offer for the player that meets their valuation.
Various reports have stated the Gunners are only willing to spend around £18 million but according to the latest talk, that sum would be instantly snubbed.
Porto rejected an offer of £27m for the 28-year-old Portugal international last year. Now the management believe that figure is a fair price for the ace.
That could cause a problem for Arsenal, who have a restricted transfer budget due to the financial effects of the COVID-19.
Arsenal are desperately aiming to raise funds by offloading outcasted duo Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi.
Meantime, Emiliano Martinez has acknowledged that he has no willingness to remain as backup goalkeeper at the club.
Speaking to Continental, the South American shot-stopper said: “I have shown the club that I can play for them and when I return next season I need to have more games. That is the only way I will stay at Arsenal.
“My target is to consolidate my place with Arsenal and to reach the Argentinian national team as number one. I won’t stop until I get that and if I don’t play for Arsenal, then clearly I would move on.”
He has two years remaining on his current deal at the Emirates Stadium.
