Lagos Set To Demolish 500 Distressed Buildings

Lagos state government is set to demolish 500 distressed buildings in the state. This was made known by the general manager of the Lagos state-Building Control Agency, Mrs Biola Kosegbe.

Mrs Biola Kosegbe also expressed the government’s commitment to zero tolerance to distressed and dilapidated buildings in the state.

The Assistant Director, Public Relations, LASBCA, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, revealed these in a statement titled ‘LASBCA to commence eviction of marked distressed buildings in Lagos State.

Biola said houses marked for demolition had been published in the national newspapers by the agency while all the tenants/occupiers of the distressed buildings had been advised to vacate the buildings immediately as demolition would commence after the expiration on the seven-day notice.

Kosegbe also stated that sustainable physical development required the participation and cooperation of all Lagosians.

She opined that no reasonable government would fold its arms and watch its citizens die avoidable death without taking precautionary measures to numb it.

The general manager noted that most homeowners had shown disregard for the state laws on building construction in the past which the resultant effect was worrisome.

She urged homeowners and developers to resist the urge to add floors to old existing buildings without carrying out a thorough engineering appraisal, integrity test on the building and obtaining necessary permits from the relevant authorities. She also advised developers to always seek authorization from LASBCA and hire the services of relevant professionals which would go a long way to prevent the occurrence of building collapse in the state.agos state government is set to demolish 500 distressed buildings in the state. UNSATISFIED Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Sarcastically Responds To 87-Rated FIFA 21 Card As Arsenal Talisman Receives Same Rating As Last Year

It’s safe to say Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang isn’t very happy about his FIFA 21 rating. The Gunners’ talisman has been handed an 87 rating for the new edition of the game – the same rating he was in FIFA 19. And the Gabon international has sarcastically responded to his card with a laughing face emoji. Aubameyang had another superb season for the Gunners, hitting 22 Premier League goals for Mikel Arteta’s side – the same he managed last year. However, the 31-year-old played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph, netting a brace against Chelsea to seal a first trophy in management for Arteta. Meanwhile, it is understood Aubameyang will ‘imminently’ sign a new three-year contract at the Emirates. It is understood he will become the club’s highest earner on his new deal, surpassing Mesut Ozil’s reported £350,000-a-week wages. The report adds Arteta has been integral in talks to keep the 31-year-old striker in north London. Former Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi is believed to ha...
