Sanwo-Olu Installs New Oba Oniru, HRM Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, 15th Oniru of Iruland


Following the demise of Oba Idowu Abiodun, a new Oniru of Iruland has been installed.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday, crowned and presented the staff of office and instrument of appointment to Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II, as the 15th Oniru of Iruland, Eti-Osa Local Government area of the state.


The event which was held at Oniru’s Palace, Victoria Island, had traditional rulers, led by Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu I in attendance.

Also, state Executive members, prominent sons, and daughters of Iruland were in attendance while the State Governor officially installed the new monarch.

Recall that until his recent resignation, Prince Lawal was the state Commissioner for Agriculture before he resigned his appointment last week Thursday.

Prince Gbolahan Lawal, succeeds late Oba Idowu Abiodun, former Oniru of Iruland, who passed on in 2019 at the age of 82.

Lawal, was the former Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to Governor Bola Tinubu during his tenure in Lagos.

A young Nigerian doctor based in New York, United States, Damilola Odutola, has tested positive for Coronavirus.
