Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi on Thursday urged former Vice- President Abubakar Atiku and other opposition figures to team up with President Muhammadu Buhari in the task of building a new Nigeria. Fayemi made the call in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, in Ado Ekiti on Thursday. The governor said the call became necessary now that the controversies surrounding the actual winner of the 2019 Presidential Election had been settled by the Supreme Court. He congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on the Supreme Court’s verdict which re-affirmed his victory at the poll, describing it as “a victory for democracy”. Magu revealed this moments ago. Ghana President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday said the closure of the land border between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin was a big blow to regional integration. Akufo-Addo who made this known at a meeting with a delegation from the First Bank of Nigeria at the Jubilee House in Accra said the closure of borders will affect ECOWAS project, Daily Trust reports. Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has said that his predecessor and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole has lost political grip on the state, but now resorts to deploying police operatives from Abuja to harass his aides. The Governor, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, added that Oshiomhole’s intent was an “attempt to plunge the state into chaos and cause panic in [his] camp.” He stated this in response to the arrest of his security adviser, Andrew Momodu, over the weekend by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) with the intent of whisking him to Abuja. Osagie’s statement had alleged that Mr. Momodu was arrested in a Gestapo style. According to him, “When Momodu resisted the unlawful arrest by the security agents, he was taken to the Police Headquarters in Benin, where he was held for an extended period until the Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu intervened.”

According to a report by PM News, a suspected cannabis sativa cultivator, Friday Ohiuan, has said that he took to the illicit business to raise money for the burial ceremony of his mother-in-law. The 45-year-old Ohiuan was arrested with 177kg of the illicit drug at Afuze, in Owan East local government area of Edo State. Mr Mohammed at a press conference said the government would not fold its arms and watch while activities on social media set the country ablaze. It has reached a level that the government may just no longer fold its arms and allow this to continue,” the minister who has severally denied reports that the present administration intends to gag the media said. Social media has been one of the channels where purveyors of fake news circulate false information to mislead the public. A policeman has allegedly shot himself after killing his wife for filing a divorce against him. The policeman, simply identified as Edward and attached to the Highway Patrol, was living with his wife, an inspector with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) inside the prison barracks at Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State. It was gathered that the tragedy occurred on Sunday night during a scuffle between the couple. A neighbour who spoke on the condition of anonymity said there was a previous quarrel between the couple in their flat, which snowballed into a fight. Dr Muhammad Sulaiman, the Executive Secretary, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), has confirmed that over 100 villages in seven local government areas in the state had been displaced by flood. Sulaiman told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Yola that the incident was “worst disaster ever experienced in the state”. He called for emergency assistance from the Federal Government and other humanitarian organisations. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has threatened that the union will begin nationwide strike if the Federal Government failed to remit the salaries of its members at the end of this month (October). The union said that the strike would reinforce members’ rejection of the Integrated Payment Personnel Information System (IPPIS), allegedly being forced on its members by the Federal Government. President Muhammadu Buhari, will on Saturday November 2, 2019, embark on a private visit to London, United Kingdom (UK). This is according to a statement signed by Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesperson. The president will spend two weeks in London, as he’s expected to return to Nigeria on Sunday, November 17, 2019. Buhari‘s visit to London will come immediately after his trip for a summit in Saudi Arabia. He is expected to return to Nigeria on 17th November, 2019.” This is not the first time the president will travel to the UK this year alone.
